12 Modern Pantographs for the Volley Star Quilt
Quilting. Some people love this part of the quilt making process, enjoying either to quilt their quilt top using a domestic machine or the selection process of finding a pantograph to complement the quilt top design. For others it can be overwhelming to pick the ONE pantograph or quilting design that will perfectly work for their quilt.
The Volley Star quilt pattern is a modern design inspired by the game of volleyball.
To maintain the modern feel of the quilt pattern, you may opt to choose a more modern pantograph or quilting design to pair with it.
If you've purchased your copy of the Volley Star Quilt pattern (even if you aren't finished with your quilt top) I've gathered a few of my favorite modern pantographs as some inspiration to help you start thinking about the next step of the process.

Below I've listed some suggestions (with mockups for you visual people!) on 12 modern pantographs that I think work perfectly for the Volley Star Quilt.

I used this pantograph on one of my 6 Color samples and I love how it gives the quilt the subtle texture of a volleyball net. It stitches out quickly and really lets the quilt design shine.
This is a great pantograph with texture and movement and the curved design also mimicked the lines of a volleyball. I used this pantograph on a full size version of the Cover colorway shown below.
Another pantograph with curved lines that mimick the look of a volleyball, Catscratch was another great choice for texture and movement. Used on the cover quilt shown below, it gave a similar look to Alternating Baptist Fan but was a little more organic in its shapes.
Okay, besides being the absolute perfect pantograph name for this quilt (IYKYK), this pantograph offers a similar look to Wobble 1 in that it creates a subtle net-like texture on the quilt. I do think between the two, this one would be a little more difficult to ensure perfect alignment because of the intricate nature of the design, but I still love it!
Another pantograph with some softer movement and more rounded texture, this pantograph definitely looks like rolling fields but also like nestled volleyballs. This would be a great choice if you want a lot of texture.
I'm kicking myself for not using this pantograph for the cover quilt of Volley Star. It was SO hard to choose but I love the texture this one gives to the design while also giving a nod to the shapes in a volleyball.
This pantograph gives a little more "pizzazz" and ties into the star of the quilt pattern design. You can never go wrong with stars for sports quilts, and this is a fun new design
This pantograph is a more geometric option and ties in well with the diagonal lines of the quilt pattern while also creating a net-like design.
Another design that adds some texture and movement while also looking somewhat like nestled volleyballs.
If you want a little more organic feel, try Loophole. This meandering, loopy design would work well as an overall softer texture.
One of my favorite pantographs to add vertical movement to any quilt top.
I've used this pantograph on my basketball quilt pattern (Nothin' But Net) because of its modern feel but also that it reminded me of a net. I think it would work perfectly with Volley Star as well.
I know there are MANY additional quilting design options out there, but I hope some of these ideas are helpful to get your quilting process started.
